Blomme eenvoudig pragtig: Vroulik en vrolik
Wyetuithouers is dikwels misleidend wat betref die hoeveelheid blomme wat dit kan hou; neem dus jou pot in ag wanneer jy blomme aankoop of pluk vir ’n rangskikking.
Hierdie pot skep ’n sagte, vroulike gevoel vir ’n rangskikking in ’n gastekamer.

50 Syserpe: Diamante – ’n vrou se gunsteling!
Hoewel baie mense dol is oor spiraalvormige knoop-kleurwerk, bly my gunstelingpatroon die diamant. Ek speel graag rond met die plasing en kleure van hierdie eenvoudige patroon.

Fotokuns: Vlaggies
Ek is gek na hierdie metode, omdat dit so vinnig en maklik is om te doen. Die oorgedraagde beelde is nie baie skerp nie, maar tog duidelik genoeg. Ek gebruik graag foto’s wat op dieselfde dag geneem is, sodat die reeks vlaggies ’n storie vertel.

Knope, vilt & krale: Viltkrale
Ek het hierdie halssnoer geskep met viltkrale wat ek self gemaak het. Ek het ’n spesiale masjien wat die lae vasgestrykte vilt in sirkels sny en daarna gebruik ek ’n ponsapparaat vir leer of ’n verstelbare ponstang om ’n gat in die middel van elke kraal te maak. Moet jou egter nie bekommer nie; jy kan dit ook doen al sal dit ’n bietjie meer tyd en moeite verg. Soos jy kan sien, is die eindproduk beslis die moeite werd!
Om hierdie viltkrale te maak, stryk jy verskeie lae vilt en vasstrykstof aan mekaar vas. Wat moeite verg, is om al die lae individueel uit te knip en hulle dan presies opmekaar te laat pas voor jy hulle vasstryk. Dit is nie ingewikkeld nie, maar verg tyd en geduld.

Net mosaïek: Teegoedrame
Ons het geen aandeel in die maak van hierdie rame gehad nie, maar het ’n kunstenaarsvriendin, Sue Maule, gevra of ons iets uit haar mosaïek-kunsversameling vir die boek kon gebruik. Hierdie stel teegoedrame was absoluut perfek en is ’n goeie voorbeeld van hoe om mosaïek met kuns te kombineer.
As jy egter glad nie kan skilder nie, doen die volgende: kry ’n geskikte servet en découpage dit op die skilderdoek eerder as om dit daarop te verf. Ons gee aanwysings oor hoe om een prent te skep, maar dieselfde tegniek is op al drie van toepassing.

Just Mosaics: Vase with flower embellishments
The original idea with this vase was very simple and straightforward: we would glue the flower embellishments down first and then work around them. Like many great ideas though, the practicality of this idea presented a few problems. It meant that we would have to work around (and slightly under) the petal shapes. And besides that, we actually liked the idea of them standing slightly proud of the vase, which wouldn’t quite be the case if they were buried in with the other tiles.
So we had a cup of tea, chatted about the grumpy lady at the post office and eventually reached the conclusion that we should approach the project differently (and send a request to the postmaster that the grumpy lady be given a position where she didn’t have to deal with the public).

Scrapbook Maps: I love gardening
The focus of this book is layout maps; therefore we have decided not to add any photos to the layouts. To emphasise the fact that you can make use of any theme or colour of paper and embellishments, we do not give any product specifications.
Each layout map has been thoughtfully designed to give you maximum versatility. By swapping the pages or rotating one or both pages, you can create up to 64 combinations from each double-page layout map. You can also use a combination of two layout maps – the possibilities are endless!
The two layouts on the opposite page were both created using the same layout map, yet each has a unique look and feel.

Boxes Galore: Black-and-white desk organiser
This container is really handy, because it neatly stores a number of small items together. It doesn’t have to be confined to your desk; make it in pastel colours and use it to store your make-up, or in vivid colours to organise your teenager’s jewellery. Each “row” of boxes is placed into the large, sturdy wooden base, and different techniques are used to make the rows.

50 Syserpe: Pastelkleurige doopkleurwerk
In die vorige projek het ons ’n lap wat reeds gekleur is met ’n ander kleur afgerond. Ons het die bruin oor die roomwit aangewend, maar die roomwit kon steeds op die voltooide serp gesien word. Hoe gemaak as jy wil hê dat die kleursel se gradering regoor die lap moet strek sodat die agtergrondlap glad nie gesien kan word nie?
Om hierdie voorkoms te skep, moet jy ’n basislaag kleursel oor die wit lap aanwend voordat jy die lap op ’n klerehanger hang om die gegradeerde kleur aan te wend.

Fotokuns: Fotodoek met gemengde media
Bedek eers die skilderdoek met oppervlaktekstuur en gebruik dan verskillende tegnieke om jou beelde daarop aan te bring. Kies foto’s van dieselfde gebeurtenis, byvoorbeeld ’n oorsese reis, en groepeer die doeke saam om ’n storie te vertel. Indien jy ’n jelmedium en die spieëlbeeldtegniek gaan gebruik, onthou om die beelde en teks om te keer voordat hulle gedruk word.

When you squint your eyes at this fabric it looks just like a woven houndstooth fabric. The textured print created by the ball of string gives pointed shapes that suggest the pattern. I decided to play it out in delicate white and soft grey.

Vars gehekel: Bonkige knoopserp
Hierdie projek is lekker maklik en in ’n japtrap klaar omdat dit met ’n lekker dik, bonkige gare gehekel word. Dit is ’n baie praktiese serp vir die man in jou lewe wat nie hou van ’n tradisionele serp waarvan die punte alewig in die pad is nie. Die voltooide serp is ongeveer 84cm x 22cm.

Just Mosaics: Hand-painted lady’s tray
These hand-painted tiles are so beautiful (and expensive!) that we really didn’t want to risk ruining them by breaking them up. Using them whole and surrounding them with glass tiles made for a very quick but striking project – absolutely no cutting whatsoever!
We decided to use them on a simple black background because we didn’t want to draw attention away from them. However, you could go really bold with tiles like these and bring in a lot of colour for an entirely different look.

I adore Consol jars. Not only are they durable and eco-friendly, but I just love their shape and screw-on lids. The entire design takes me back to simpler times. I use them on my counter to display pantry items, but that workspace can get crowded, so I conjured up a fun and practical way to display my beloved jars.

Boxes Galore: 20 Circles
This interesting, round box is made of 20 circles that are cut, folded and glued together. You can use a ragbag of colours or match them carefully. If you want to make a smaller box, simply adjust the template.
It would also look charming in Christmas colours, and you can use it to decorate the Christmas tree. Alternatively, you can fill it with sweets.
If you use fairly thin paper instead of card stock, you can fill the box with potpourri and use it to lend a delightful fragrance to your wardrobe.
